Fall Classic Final Game Draws 51M Audience Members In the US, Canadian and Japan Markets.

The thrilling 11-inning clash where the Dodgers defeat the Toronto Blue Jays by one run averaged a combined over 50 million watchers across the US, Canadian, and Japanese markets. MLB reported this marks the highest-rated World Series Game 7 since the 1991 contest between the Twins and Braves.

Television Viewership Details

The Saturday memorable game averaged over 27 million viewers on Fox channels, Fox Deportes and their digital services. Per Nielsen, it was the second most-watched broadcast of the previous week.

It also stands as the top-rated World Series game since the 2017 edition final game between the Los Angeles Dodgers and Houston Astros, which drew 29.07M. This represents a 16% increase over the last finale between the Nationals and Astros, which drew 23.19 million.

In the weekly rankings, Game 6 placed fourth, the fourth game was 7th, Game 5 was eighth, and Game 3 landed in 13th place.

Global Viewership Figures

In the Canadian market, the game recorded 11.6 million viewers on the Sportsnet network and the French TVA Sports channel. This was the highest-rated English broadcast in Canada since the 2010 Winter Olympics.

In the Japanese market, where the final game began at 9 p.m. in the local time zone, it drew 12M. This came after last Friday’s sixth game – where World Series Most Valuable Player Yamamoto allowed a single run in six frames – recorded over 13 million viewers, making it the highest-rated World Series matchup on a single network in the country.

Overall Averages and Trends

The entire seven-game World Series recorded over 15.7 million audience members on the Fox network, a 2% increase from the previous year’s Dodgers-Yankees matchup. This marks the first time since 2015 and 2016 that the Fall Classic has seen audience increases for two consecutive seasons.

Including the opening game telecast on the Univision network, the total American average was 16.1 million. The overall Fall Classic average in Japan was 9.7 million and 8.1 million in Canada.

The full MLB Postseason on Fox, FS1 and FS2 drew over 8 million watchers, an eight percent rise compared to the previous year and the network’s strongest postseason ratings since 2017.

MLB announced that the Fall Classic was televised in over 200 countries and territories by 44 media partners in sixteen various languages.
