A person who spiked candy with sedative and provided them to minors at a summer program in the area has pleaded guilty to sexual offenses against two young males who were nine and 10.
The accused was arrested after eight youngsters and a grown-up experienced illness at the facility in mid-summer.
The 76-year-old, from Ruddington in Nottinghamshire, pleaded guilty to a total of 17 charges when he was present at Leicester Crown Court on Friday.
Yet, he denied a single sexual charge he was accused of, which was involving a nine-year-old boy.
Ruben was kept in jail prior to a subsequent court date on November 28th.
'Sweet game'
The prosecutor, presenting evidence, described Ruben's offending to the judicial body.
She said his victims were under-privileged children who were staying at a summer program which he ran.
The defendant conducted a "sweet game" with the children, the prosecutor stated, in which he would go into the children's bedrooms when they were settling down and request they to ingest treats "as quickly as they can".
She stated to the judge the man had engaged in this activity with the young males "for many years", and minors had previously fallen ill the subsequent day.
She explained Ruben had been successful in rationalizing this over a long period as the minors being "overstimulated by activities", until his stepchild had concerns in July 2025.
The prosecutor continued: "In the summer" his stepson had suspicions about the activities, for good reason.
"They decided to investigate in the man's possessions."
The prosecutor said items including baby oil, ointment and injection devices were located, and his stepchild alerted the law enforcement about his suspicions.
She explained the defendant went on to conduct the "treat game" with six children that night - July 26th - and they were all sick the following morning.
"Law enforcement" had not responded by that point," she added.
The police watchdog, the police conduct office, earlier informed that it was examining Leicestershire Police's handling of the situation.
The legal representative stated the children were unable to walk properly due to being ill, so Ruben's stepson contacted the law enforcement a second time.
She said the man then conducted the "treat game" in a space of five minors.
